TOP 5 HIGHEST RUN SCORERS IN IPL HISTORY

The 11th edition of Vivo IPL is all set to start on April 7th.The next 2 months of cricket is going to be one hell of a ride for the fans.Many cricketing greats have played in this tournament such as Sachin Tendulkar,Ricky Ponting,Jacques Kallis,Kevin Pietersen,Sanath Jayasuriya,etc.Many modern day greats such as Virat Kohli,AB de Villliers are playing in it currently.This blog is going to tell you about the top 5 run getters in IPL history,here they are:

1.Suresh Raina:

Popularly known as Mr.IPL,Raina has played most number of matches in IPL history than anyone else.He is the highest run scorer of IPL history with a tally of 4540 runs in 161 matches at an average of 34.He has been the backbone for CSK since the very beginning.For the last 2 years,he was the captain of Gujarat Lions and he didn't disappoint there too.Raina has recently made his comeback for Indian team and has played some crucial knocks too.He is heading towards IPL with some good form.It won't be surprising if he retains the top spot in this list after this year's IPL.

2.Virat Kohli :

Following Suresh Raina,no.2 on this list is Virat Kohli.He had a very ordinary IPL career until 2016,where he scored 973 runs and 4 centuries in a single season.He has a tally of 4418 runs with an average of 37 in 149 matches.He has been a part of RCB since the very first season.His fans are more than excited to see him in red colours bashing bowlers out of the ground.He also has an average of 50+ in international t20s.He knows how to pace the innings in a t20 match.The kind of form Virat Kohli had shown in South Africa,there is a possiblity of him surpassing Raina in this year's IPL.

3.Rohit Sharma:
Well 3rd on the list comes Rohit Sharma.Popularly known as Hitman,he has scored a total of 4207 runs in 159 matches at an average of 32.Ever since he captained Mumbai Indians,their fate has changed completely.He has led Mumbai Indians to 3 IPL trophies,which is the highest by any team ever.Rohit might start his innings in a lazy manner but once he gets set,he can thrash bowlers brutally.He bats at middle order most of the times for Mumbai Indians leaving the opportunity for other players to open the innings.Along with captaincy,he has a very good batting record too and has every chance of topping the chart after IPL 2018.

4.Gautam Gambhir:
Gautam Gambhir comes 4th on the list.He has a total of 4132 runs in 148 matches at an average of 31.At the beginning of IPL,he spent three sesaons with Delhi Daredevils,then he captained Kolkata Knight Riders to 2 IPL trophies and this year he is back at Delhi Daredevils.This stylish left-handed batsman opens the innings for his team and plays in a lucid manner.Though he has been out from the Indian team,but his value in the IPL is appreciable.Delhi fans will have high expectations from the man who led India to victory in two World Cup Finals.

5.David Warner :

Top 5 Batsman who can score 200 in a single innings in IPL

In the modern day cricket,especially in the shortest format of the game,batsman try to score as quickly as they can.Scoring 200 in ODIs is no big deal now.However the record of making 200 in a t20 match is yet to be made.Players like Chris Gayle have come as close as 175 but still couldn't cross the mark,Glenn Maxwell and Brendon McCulllum have scored 150+ each in the shortest format of the game.Even in ODIs none believed that 200 could be made by a single player until the great Sachin Tendulkar showed the way.Its a matter of time that someone scores a double century in t20s too.Here's a list of top 5 players who have the ability to score 200 in the upcoming IPL:

1.Rohit Sharma:

Well as expected,a guy with 3 double centuries and fastest international t20 century is on the top

of the list.If Rohit opens for Mumbai Indians,there is a huge possibility of him scoring daddy hundreds,escpecially on the batting friendly tracks of their home ground Wankhede.He usually has a lazy start,but once he gets set,we all know how brutal he can be.Besides,he has the experience of playing big knocks.

2.AB de Villiers:

Well I don't need to explain why this guy is there on this list.Popularly known as Mr.360,this guy has scored the fastest hundred in just 31 balls in ODIs.But the only problem lies in the fact that he bats in the middle order for RCB,as a result of which he might not get sufficient amount of deliveries to face.But still you never know,with a guy like AB,even the impossible looks possible.

3.Chris Gayle :

A player who has scored 175 in a t20 match definitely has the ability to score 200,and specially if he is Christopher Henry Gayle.He might not be in good form recently,but on his day he can thrash any bowler out of the park.RCB might have let him go this year,but Gayle would be more than excited in his new venture with Kings 11 Punjab.

4.Brendon McCullum:

The man who scored 158 in the inaugural match of the IPL,has every chance of scoring a double century this year.Brendon McCullum,who has just played in PSL recently will be looking to make it big in IPL this year with his new team.He will probably open the innings for RCB and has every chance of scoring it big with his stylish shots.

5.Ishan Kishan :

You all will be very surprised to see this young man's name in the list.Most of you might not even recognize him.Well he was the captain of the Indian U19 team in 2016 WC and was an active player of Gujarat Lions for the past 2 years.Mumbai Indians bought him this year for a whopping amount of 6.2 crore,credits to his wicketkeeping ability.Few days ago,he scored a blistering knock of 124 off just 49 balls in a charity match against bowlers like Bumrah,Mavi,Bhajji and Shardul in the very Wankhede Stadium.If he opens this year for Mumbai Indians,chances are that he will make it big.He has remained underrated in the shadows of Rishabh Pant,but believe me that this young dynamic left-handed batsman is a treat to watch out to.

Is 2018 going to be RCB's year??

Royal Challengers Bangalore is probably the most entertaining team in the IPL,yet zero trophies in their cabinet.Their squad looks strong every year on paper in the likes of Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers.But this year they look a bit balanced as they have some real potential in their bowling unit too.And in a long season comprising of 14+ games,they have some good bench strength too.Lets have a look at their probable squad with alternatives:

OPENERS:

Its pretty sure that this year Virat Kohli ain't gonna open,why??This is because they have bought 4 openers this time namely Brendon McCullum,Quinton de Kock,Parthiv Patel,Mandeep Singh.

Now the question arises which two are going to open among them?Most of you would prefer Brendon and de Kock,but that is not likely,since that would make their bowling weak in absence of overseas bowlers.So only one among Brendon and de Kock and one among Mandeep and Parthiv will play.The probable pick is;

1.Brendon McCullum

2.Parthiv Patel(wk)

Middle order:

The middle order is quite fixed up,Virat at no.3 and ABD at no.4

3.Virat Kohli(C)

4.AB de Villiers

Finishers:

Sarfaraz Khan whose retention shocked us all will probably bat at no.5.If he doesn't perform well,RCB has Manan Vohra as a replacement.Colin de Grandhomme,and Moeen Ali will battle it out at no.6,but seeing the conditions at Chinnaswamy,de Grandhoome is probably going to be in the playing 11.Chris Woakes,overtaking Corey Anderson, is the first choice bowling all rounder at no.7

Quick Squad Analysis :
The team looks pretty decent at present with batting depth upto no.8 and having 6 bowlers in the playing 11. The reserve bench looks quite good too,which is very essential in a long season.There are some other players too like Pavan Deshpande,Murugan Ashwin and Anirudha Joshi who have done well in the domestic circuit and might get a place some time during the season.Their biggest pro is their top order batting and the spin duo,while their seam attack,which is full of length bolwers,remains a con,especially at the death overs.

Is a one year ban really fair for Steven Smith and others???

It doesn't matter if you are a cricket fan or not,the news of ball tampering incident at Newlands test match must have come to your ears.As a consequence of that incident,Australian captain Steven Smith,vice captain David Warner and newbie Cameron Bancroft were declared guilty of tampering the ball and were banned for 12,12 and 9 months respectively.

Now the big question arises that is a one year ban too harsh for Steven Smith and co?Well it is.This is because when Bancroft was caught,Smith himself came out and confessed that he was responsible for it.Now this takes some guts and honesty to pull off such a confession.What if he hadn't confessed?Well that would mean Bancroft getting a bigger punishment,but Smith didn't let it happen.

David Warner being the main culprit

Well you would be shocked to know but it wasn't Smith who came up with the plan of tampering the ball.The Vice Captain David Warner approached Smith and later both of them approached newbie Bancroft.So i guess if anyone deserves a one year ban it must be Warner.Within a week of being in a controversy with Quinton de Kock,Warner committed another mistake and this one being way bigger than the previous.So it is basically Warner who had disturbed the environment around the dressing room of the Australian Cricket team.

Then what might be a legit punishmnet for Smith and Bancroft?

According to me,both Steven Smith and Bancroft must have been banned for 6 months instead.Steven Smith seems to be really sorry for what he did.Besides,he is one of the best,probably the best test batsman in the world currently with an average above 60.A ban for 6 months would mean that he would get ample amount of game time before the World Cup in 2019.

ICC disappointed us yet again,credits to Cricket Australia

In the recent years we have seen that ICC has disappointed us again and again regarding incidents such as sledging,ball tampering etc.This incident was no special.ICC almost took no action against it.They banned the trio of their match fees and suspended them for one match,this was it.

Let us take a moment to appreciate the Autralian Cricket Board who took immediate action against Smith and co.They have assured that no player wearing the precious Baggy Green ever cheats the game again.

Smith and Warner have also been sacked from this season of IPL.They were captains of Rajasthan Royals and Sunsrisers Hyderabad respectively.

Overhyping the incident

The incident surely have hurted cricketers and cricket fans all over the globe,but i somehow feel that the incident has been overhyped.Especially the media of south-east asian countries have given it more coverage than it should have gotten.No doubt Smith,Warner and Bancroft have insulted the game but the punishment has been announced for them.So it is completely irrational now to tweet about them or troll them on social media.After all,they are human beings.To err is human.They will realise their mistake and never repeat such things ever again.For the time being,their punishment serves as a warning to all of the other cricketers who tend to break the rules of the game.We mustn't forget that Cricket is a Gentleman's game and this is why it is different from other sports.
