Sandeep Lamichhane-the pride of Nepal cricket,DelhiDaredevils in IPL and a magician with the ball

Sandeep Lamichhane is a 17-year old budding legspinner from Nepal and is a household word there.In this blog,we are going to talk about his journey from a normal school-going boy in Syangja to an International cricketer and how he made it to the most popular league in the world,the Indian Premier League.


Early Life:
Born on August2,2000 to parents Kopila Devi and Chander Narayan Lamichhane,Sandeep migrated to India when he was small and completed his 4th standard there.It was during this time that he became a fan of cricket.He loved Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar and considered Australian leg spinner Shane Warne as his idol.When he was 14 years old,his talent was discovered by the then Nepal Coach Pubudu Dassanayake.

Career:
Sandeep made his unofficial debut for Nepal at the age of 15 against a touring MCC squad in November,2015.In his initial matches,he dismissed Hong Kong wicketkeeper,MCC player,Scott McKechnie twice.This urged Scott to pick Sandeep for Kowloon Cantons in the 1st edition of Hong Kong t20 Blitz in 2016.It was in that tournament where Australian crickter Michael Clarke noticed him.Clarke was heavily impressed with Sandeep's bowling and called him to Austalia to play club cricket under him.Sandeep played extremely well for Nepal in the ICC U-19 World Cup in Bangladesh in 2016 where he took 14 wickets in 6 games.

International Career:
Due to his impressive performance in the U-19 World Cup,Sandeep soon got a berth in the senior national team and made his debut against Namibia in the WCL Championship.Since then he has been a regular performer for Nepal and has completely cemented his place in the National side now.Even Nepal captain Paras Khadka praises Sandeep frequenlty.Recenlty due to their combined performance,Nepal has gained ODI status from ICC.We hope that in Khadka's reign and with Sandeep's excellent bowling,Nepal will reach new heights in International Cricket.

IPL Stint:
Everyone including Sandeep was shocked when IPL franchise Delhi Daredevils picked him in the auction for Rs.20 Lakh(USD 31,000 approx).The Delhi Daredevils management called him on a trial,where he performed excellently and won their hearts.Though Sandeep is yet to play a match in the IPL,but when he does,he is going to be the first Nepali cricketer to play in the richest cricket league of the world.Delhi Daredevils has recently indicated on twitter that they are going to include him in the playing 11 very soon.

Sandeep will be sharing dressing rooms with modern day greats like Gautam Gambhir,Glenn Maxwell,Trent Boult and thereby he will gain a lot of experience at the end of this IPL.Not only IPL,Sandeep was picked in the Caribbean Premier League(CPL) too by St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots for USD 5000.Needless to say,Sandeep is going places at such a tender age and this is a great news for Nepal Cricket.

WHY CHRIS GAYLE WASN'T RETAINED BY RCB?

If you are an IPL fan,then Chris Gayle must be a household name for you.And why shouldn't he be,this West Indian dynamite has scored 3626 runs in 101 matches in IPL at an average of 41.He started his IPL career with KKR,but at 2011,they didn't retain him and he went unsold in the auctions.Luckily for him,Dirk Nannes of RCB got injured in the middle of the season and he was called up.In his very first match versus his previous team KKR,he had shown them that they had committed a huge mistake,by scoring a century against them.After that day till now,he has won two orange cups and not to forget the unbelievable 175 not out versus Pune Warriors India.Popularly known as World Boss,Chris Gayle didn't have a very convincing IPL last year.But still many fans of RCB expected that he would be retained this year,but to their utter surprise he wasn't.

Virat Kohli,who has been a very good friend of Gayle,recently spoke in an interview as to why Gayle wasn't picked up by RCB this year.In the interview,he said:“He has done a great job for RCB over the past few years but looking at the team dynamics for the next three years the decision was taken. We thought of infusing new people who will give us the kind of balance we require.”

He added, “I do not want to take anything away from Chris as we just decided to go in with the balance that can sustain the team in the next three years. We did not want to be relying on two or three people all the time.”




Chris Gayle was picked up by Kings 11 Punjab at a base price of Rs. 2 crore:

Gayle fans were a bit tensed on the first day of the auctions when he wasn't selected by any franchise.But luckily KXIP bought him on the next day.IPL somehow is incomplete without Gayle.And even RCB fans will be happy to see him in IPL,although in a different team.7 years back when Gayle wasn't picked by KKR,we all know what he did.Lets see if this year he can do the same.

TOP 5 MOST VALUABLE PLAYERS IN IPL 2018

IPL 2018 will have already started by the time you read this blog.Anyways,in this blog we will be talking about the 5 most valuable players in this year's IPL.But first you need to know what is the definition of a valuable player.A valuable player is that player who is worth every penny paid to him by his franchise.Basically the IPL team also launches a top 5 list of MVPs(Most Valuable Players),showing the cost of per run by a batsman or the cost of per wicket by a bowler.Majorly in the list of  most valuable players,all rounders can be seen,and our blog is no exception.But since our blog always adds an element of surprise,it lists some other players too,who are more valuable than certain all rounders.Lets start the list:

1.Ben Stokes:
Needless to say,number 1 on the list is English All-Rounder Ben Stokes.He is equally proficient with the bat and the ball.This is the reason why he was the costliest player this year in the IPL auctions.He was sold for a mammoth price of Rs.12.5 crore(125 million) to Rajasthan Royals.He can play crucial knocks at the top order for Rajastan Royals and take some wickets too.Last year too when he played for Rising Pune Supergiants,he turned out to be the most valuable player in IPL.Rajasthan Royals will also have high expectations from him this year.



2.Mahendra Singh Dhoni:
MS Dhoni,popularly known as THALA in Chennai returns to CSK after two long years.CSK is incomplete without MS Dhoni and so he was retained this year by them at a price of 15 crore.Apart from captaining the team,he also keeps the wickets for them and plays the role of a finisher in the team.Boy I guess even 15 crores is less accounting the amount of services he provides.Known as Captain Cool,it will be interesting to see if MS Dhoni can lead CSK this year to their 3rd IPL title.



3.Virat Kohli:
This list would have been incomplete had we not included Virat run-machine Kohli.He is the only player that has played for the same franchise from the very beginning till now.Infact Royal Challengers Bangalore loves him so much that they paid him 2 crores extra when they retained him.He is now the most expensive player in the IPL,being paid 17 crore per season.He might not bowl or keep wickets,but a guy who has scored 973 runs and 4 centuries in a single season,17 crore seems legit to pay for him.Also he captains RCB,which adds to his services.



4.Sunil Narine:
Apart from Gambhir,if anyone is responsible for the uprise of Kolkata Knight Riders,it must be Sunil Narine.This is why he was retained by KKR this year and boy why shouldn't he be.I mean who would not like to keep in his team a guy who can bowl a maiden in super over as well as open the innings and score a 15 ball fifty for you.But unfortunatley,there is no clearance of whether he will play this year or not,as his bowling action has been banned by ICC.Chances are that he will get cleared before the commencement of the tournament and we hope to see him play.



5.Jasprit Bumrah:
As you all know that there is always an element of surprise in our blog,well today it is boom boom Bumrah.Most of you would be saying that Bumrah is just a bowler,he isn't an allrounder or a captain or a wicketkeeper,then why is he kept in this list?Well a bowler that bowls at a constant economy of 6,can swing the ball in early overs as well as bowl lethal yorkers in the death overs,I would say why not.He has been one of the major reasons of Mumbai Indians' success in the recent years.He is the no.1 bowler in the ICC ODI rankings as well as in the top 5 in the t20 rankings.He is definitely the bowler any captain would want in his side.Even if you ask him to defend 6 runs in the last over,he ain't gonna be disappointing you.

The very reason that Chahal got a berth in the Indian team is because of IPL.He has been the highest wicket taker in IPL for the last 3 seasons.Even in the latest ICC t20 rankings,Chahal is placed at 2nd position.This shows how good of a bowler Chahal is in t20s.Even in batting friendly conditions like Chinnaswamy,where other RCB bowlers get thrashed away,Chahal has been rendering match winning performances constantly.He has been so consistent with the ball that RCB used their RTM to buy him this year for a very good price of 6crore.Chahal is never afraid of giving the ball a flight and this has been one of his main reasons of success.


3.Sandeep Lamichhane :

Kuldeep is different from everyone else on the list.This is because he is a left-handed leg spinner,popularly known as Chinaman.Now let me tell you that these Chinaman bowlers are a lot more difficult to pick than normal leg spinners.This along with his recent success with the national team are the reasons why KKR used their RTM to buy him at the auction this year for an amount of 5.8 crore.Kuldeep generally has less experience in t20 format than other formats of the game.Gambhir during his captaincy at KKR really used him well.It will be very interesting to see how Dinesh Karthik uses him this year.



5.Rahul Chahar:
This is why our blogs are a bit different from other blogs you will find on Internet.We always add an element of surprise to each blog.In this blog,its Rahul Chahar.This 18 year old guy played for Rising Pune Supergiants in the last season.But it was very shocking to know that despite of his good performance,he wasn't selected in the Indian U-19 cricket team for this year's World Cup.Anyways hard work always pays off,so he was bought by Mukesh Ambani's Mumbai Indians this year at the auctions for an unexpected price of 1.9 crore.He has been in good form in the domestic circuit too recently.Since Mumbai Indians haven't bought many spinners,Chahar will definitely get a lot of games to play.If he performs upto the expectaions,he can win many matches for the Mumbai Indians.
